I use both Puppy Linux and Xubuntu Linux, I'll try and run the Berean Bible on both systems, and let you guys know how it works.

I've reviewed this on Download.com. I stated how fast and easy it is to use, and how it doesn't chew up all my memory and other resources. I think its only fair that I should say someone about a piece of software that I like and use for no charge.

My suggestion for a translation to add to the Berean Bible would be The Complete Jewish Bible by David H Stern.

Its terrible that these spammers seem to be everywhere, sadly, I've seen many forums overtaken by these people/bots. I hope that the problem of stopping them joining this forum will eventually be found, God bless, Chris.

Thanks for letting me know.
I've had a lot of difficulties with CNET for the past several months ... it seems to misbehave with IE8 ... locks up for some reason. I haven't been able to download files for quite a while. I'll look into what is going on. I do get a message about a script running very sloooooooowly. |

Just thought I'll let you know. The file size is only 14.22 KB, and the download is a PHP file instead of an exe. |

FYI: The following has been added to the registration agreement:
Please note that spamming of this forum has been enough of a problem that the first four clauses have been prepended to the boilerplate registration agreement. If you are not a spammer, please feel welcome, and accept our apologies for any inconvenience. You agree, through your use of this forum, that you will: ***************************** * Pay $1000 per violation if you post medical advertisements or pornography. Violations will result in an automatic guilty plea to a civil suit for consequential damages. * Pay $500 per violation if you post spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations. Violations will result in an automatic guilty plea to a civil suit for consequential damages. * If you are a spammer, be aware that the Bible contains prayers that God "break the teeth" of people who are mockers of God, or otherwise work against His kingdom. May God have mercy on your soul when you stand before Him, the Judge of the Universe. *Deuteronomy 32:35 (Thus says the LORD God:) 'Vengeance is Mine, and retribution, In due time their foot will slip; For the day of their calamity is near, And the impending things are hastening upon them.' I am reluctantly disabling registration of new members. The level of spam attacks has reached a point where it is taking too much time to protect the forums.
Note that I am not disabling www.berbible.org/forums. Correspondence using www.berbible.org/forums is much preferred over private emails. If you read this message and want to join the forums, please contact support at berbible dot org and I can register you directly. My intention is to re-activate forums when smf 2.0 is at RTM status (or perhaps the equivalent of SP1), and then reload the existing content to something like: www.berbible.org/smf As always, feedback appreciated. |

Short answer:
It depends. Are you willing to use emulators and/or simulators? If so, probably. More info: There are versions of BerBible that are native C++ implementations for Windows-PC, Pocket-PC (and some Mobile 5/6), and Palm Pda devices. With the intentional simplicity of BerBible and help from very talented participants, it is at least twice as fast as any other alternative that I'm aware of. I apologize if that sounds like boasting, but it is true ... and relevant. To God be the glory. The original objective of BerBible was to address a niche for people in the third world with obsolete computers and dial-up modems for connection to the Internet. The resulting priorities for performance and small download size still apply, but an objective of simplicity has become an even higher priority. http://www.berbible.org/forums/index.php?topic=48.0 My impression is that it is technically possible for BerBible to work on reasonably modern Macs and Linux that have emulators and/or simulators. BerBible is so efficient that it will probably have at least acceptable speed, compared to a native Mac or native Linux Bible software application from another "vendor". On Macs with dual-boot, my impression is that BerBible will be very well behaved. Perhaps TMI (too much info): So for Mac or Linux readers, it is your call whether to try BerBible, obviously. Some people just don't care for anything related to Microsoft; then BerBible isn't for you. Otherwise, it might work quite well. As with all people considering BerBible (and if you've gotten this far), I urge you to view the 3 minute animated slideshow and decide if it appears that BerBible might be suitable. http://www.berbible.org/slides/BbTutorial.html To me, the reality is that Windows has approximately 90% of the market for the combined market of desktops/laptops/netbooks/tablets. I suspect it is higher for people who are potential candidates to be BerBible end-users, although I'm unclear if international users are more or less inclined to use Linux, especially those in the 3rd world. An aside: I would confidently speculate that the market share for Mac is proportional low in the 3rd world. Based on my very limited experience with Macs and Linux from years ago, I have a mostly favorable opinion of both. For several reasons, I wish each had at least 20% market share, mainly to push Microsoft that much harder to improve. But as a "vendor" of Bible software with extremely limited resources, I continue to ignore Mac and Linux because I see no compelling advantage to either platform for Bible software in general, and BerBible specifically. There are already cross-platform Bible apps from other vendors, and BerBible is probably suitable for Mac and Linux users whose needs don't exceed what BerBible provides in terms of functionality. |

The executive summary is that if your Mobile 5/6 device has a touch-screen (and stylus), then the Pocket-PC version of the Berean Bible study freeware will probably work.
If your device doesn't have a touch-screen, and you really need PPC Bible software, then a number of vendors have software that should work. This is how I would proceed:
